But the Tsuki knew monsters, and none were so cruel to demand the life of a child. This was something else. This was Evil.
About Tsuki
Welcome, friend.
One of the most important things to take into account when reading Tsuki is that the languages “Proper/Tekisetsu” and “Mainlander/Shiori” are not Japanese. They are indeed influenced by Japanese, in the same way that English has been significantly influenced by Latin, Germanic languages, and French. The characters are not meant to be speaking perfect Japanese.
Proper has effectively taken Latin’s place in my worldbuilding. It is the more ancient language from a long dead empire, a civilization that scientific minds and nobility are enamored with. It is very rarely spoken but often read by the educated.
Mainlander, where it exists, is Proper that has mutated through the ages. It is a very popular language because it provides a level field for trade and communications. First names have changed a lot over time. Surnames, being hereditary, are more similar to their origins. Again, these are not meant to be Japanese names though some will appear.
Lastly, there are multiple dialects of Mainlander, which are usually understandable by other groups. These variations exist alongside and borrow from the national language. There are numerous nations that do not speak Mainlander and have no Proper influence.

About The Author
Tsuki is an adult science-fantasy series by Logan Wolfrhamn, a Melbourne based writer and artist. He was born on the 30th of June 1994 in Northallerton, spending ten years in a village near his father's army base. He started designing characters and planning the story for Tsuki in 2008 when he was moving from England to Australia, finally beginning a first draft in 2018.

He describes himself as a "formerly gifted child" and "a dozen issues bundled into a trench coat and pressed into the vague shape of a human". He is exploring his Jewish heritage at his own pace and staunchly supports Palestine. Through writing, he aims to explore mental health, identity, friendship, trauma, and of course, magic.
